William Melvin Stevens Scholarship Fund, Inc. has authorized the awarding of a limited number of scholarships to deserving and eligible students. This scholarship program provides funding for various expenses such as tuition, maintenancefees, and books. Applications are availed upon request.

THIS APPILICATION MUST INCLUDE:
- Two recommendation letters from person who have personal knowledge of the applicant’s ability to succeed.
- A one-page essay written by the applicant detailing the benefits of the scholarship and how it would assist them in meeting his/her goals.
- A letter of acceptance from the college/university applied
- High School transcripts
*Only when this packet is totally complete will a personal interview be conducted.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION is May 1, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
- Recipients of the scholarship must be high school graduates or have a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and must be U.S. citizens or possess a permanent resident
- Recipients must complete the college admissions process and submit an application packet for scholarship consideration. A complete application packet consists of: an acceptance letter from thecollege or university, the application form, a 1 page essay detailing the benefit this scholarship would provide, and two letters of reference. Awards will not be finalized until the application packet is complete and on file with the Melvin Stevens Scholarship, office.
- To be eligible for continuation in this program, each returning student must maintain a cumulativegrade point average (GPA) of 5 or better. Award recipients must provide a copy of grades for themost recently completed semester as documentation of satisfactory academic progress.
- Grant recipients enduring hardship conditions (severe emergencies beyond student control) mayreapply for the next academic year under the same eligibility requirements (#2 above).
- Award recipients are encouraged to “give back” to the William Melvin Stevens Scholarship Fund toinsure its well-being for future students desiring to attend
Guidelines
- The scholarships will be awarded to low income students who express a desire to continuetheir education and show potential for
- The scholarship provides for Maintenance fees, and book fees per semester. The scholarshipis not intended to be disbursed as a cash reward.
- The Education Committee of William Melvin Stevens Scholarship Fund, will coordinate thescreening process and make recommendations. The committee will send official notification to the financial aid coordinator of the recipients designated college or university.
- Recipients must enroll for at least 12 hours of credit courses.
